Sucker Punch’s rendition of Seattle is absolutely gorgeous. Open-world games usually scale back visuals to accommodate the various systems in play, this does not look to be the case with Second Son. The rainy Seattle cityscape is a feast for the eyes as puddles in the streets reflect the environment realistically. The lighting is some of the best we’ve seen in a game as we bask in the evening sun, blasting bad guys with fiery smoke and purple neon.
It’s impressive to see a game with such stunning visuals so early in a console’s lifecycle. It really gets you pumped to see what kind of things we’ll be seeing in the future on the PlayStation 4. It also gets us excited for what open-world games will look like in the coming years. We can’t wait to see what a next-gen GTA will look like after having played an open-world game that looks this awesome.
InFamous: Second Son is not all flashy graphics either. It packs the game play to back up its stunning looks. The control you have is exceptional for an open-world game. Aiming and firing while jumping, gliding and zooming around the environment feels great. The combat is thrilling and offers a great blend of shooting and melee. Second Son is definitively going to be a killer-app for the PlayStation 4.
InFamous: Second Son is only a couple days away from launch, and PlayStation 4 owners should definitively be getting excited. Stay tuned for our full review.
